Emergency/Comfort Care

At Watson Orthodontics, we understand that orthodontic emergencies can happen at any time. That's why our team is always available to help you handle any situation that arises. If you experience an orthodontic emergency, don't hesitate to contact us immediately. We will do our best to get you in for an appointment as soon as possible.

Some common orthodontic emergencies include:

  • Broken or loose brackets or wires

If a bracket or wire becomes loose or breaks, it can cause discomfort and may even damage your teeth or gums. If this happens, contact our office right away.

  • Discomfort or soreness

It's common to experience some discomfort or soreness after an adjustment appointment. This can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers or by applying a cold compress to the affected area.

  • Poking or protruding wires

Sometimes a wire can come loose and begin to poke out, causing discomfort or even injury to the inside of your mouth. If you are unable to push the wire back into place, contact our office for assistance.

  • Lost or broken appliances

If you lose or break an appliance, such as a retainer or expander, contact our office right away to schedule a replacement or repair appointment.

If you are experiencing a severe orthodontic emergency, such as excessive bleeding or swelling, please go to the emergency room or contact your primary care physician immediately.
